Over the past few decades the sport of tennis has endured drastic changes in technology. The transition to superior technology has significantly increased the speed of the game. Professionals on the ATP Tour commonly hit forehands over 100MPH and the fastest recorded serve in history is 155MPH by Andy Roddick in the Davis Cup of 2004. The sheer speed of the game has placed a premium on footwork. Gone are the days of stepping into every single shot on the court. Today professionals survive and thrive using a variety of open-stance footwork formations that enable the player to strike hard and fast in the fewest amount of steps.

A beautiful aspect of the sport of tennis is that it can be played for a lifetime. It's never too late to update your game with techniques used by top professionals of the modern era.
