Meet the Director of
the CTA
Chris Clauson, USPTA, Director of the Carlsbad Tennis Academy at
The Four Seasons Resort Aviara. I fell in love with the sport of tennis
at the age of 6 and have not stopped since. Tennis is truly a part of my
soul. I have sixteen years of successful Open tournament competition
experience within the USTA, NCAA, Challenger and Futures circuits.
I have excelled with an incredibly wide variety of playing styles. I
trained for thirteen years with the two-handed backhand baseline style.
Nine years with the one-handed backhand, serve-and-volley, all-around
style of play. At a young age the rigor of tournament competition caused
three reconstructive surgeries to my right playing arm. Subsequently, I
forced myself to learn to play with my left arm. The last six years have
been spent mastering the rare ambidextrous style of play.
In 2006 I finally regained a relative hundred percent health. My
extended injury hiatus was over and I began entering regional USTA
Southern California Open tournaments. Playing with the ambidextrous
style I was a quarterfinalist at the Mission Viejo and Rancho Bernardo
Opens and made the Round-of-16 at the Mercedes-Benz, House of Imports,
Socal Cup.
Tennis is a sport that is enjoyed by millions and can be played for a
lifetime. The Carlsbad Tennis Academy has a class for everyone, of any
skill level, of any age year-round. We look forward to meeting you on
the court.
